Our Global Partner in Ethiopia seeks to mobilize, equip and plant a network of multiplying home churches throughout the Amhara and Tigray regions of Northwestern Ethiopia with the goal to remove the Amhara and Tigray from the list of unreached peoples.
The Amhara and Tigray territories of Northern Ethiopia, numbering 28 million, are now among the largest unreached people groups in Africa. While the South has enjoyed a long missionary presence, the North has been quite resistant to evangelists and would-be church planters.
It became clear to Aklilu (Lou) and Genet that a home church approach would be needed in this area. So in 2013 Dwell commissioned them to work alongside their fellow believers in Ethiopia to plant home churches. Since then they have seen great fruit born throughout Northern Ethiopia. Many are open to the gospel, the family structure in the Ethiopian household makes it so that the gospel spreads quickly, and many young believers are eager to become equipped and trained to plant house churches.
